Workshop Introduction - Recent Advances in Cluster Computing
The architectures and application of clusters of PCs and workstations
are becoming increasingly more important prerequisites to satisfy the advanced
computing power requirements of high-performance and high availability
applications. To optimize such commodity (off-the-shelf), cluster
platforms new architectural paradigms are needed. With regards to these
aspects, the Cluster Computing track will cover new architectures, communication
technologies and standards, organizations and applications as well as examining
the future trends in these areas. It will cover original research and development
articles that demonstrate network architectures, novel communication structures
as well as protocols supporting local-area and wide-area based parallel
and distributed computing. Both theoretical and practical works are encouraged.
Topics of interest include but not limited to:
-
Cluster architectures
-
Homogeneous and heterogeneous clusters
-
Wireless clusters
-
Clusters and ubiquitous computing
-
Clusters as fat servers
-
Network architectures and optimisation
-
High-speed cluster switches and interconnect
-
Efficient communications, protocols, and messaging conceptions
-
Internet appliances and devices
-
Operating systems, distributed operating systems
-
Cluster management and organization tools
-
Programming models, tools, and environments
-
Task scheduling, load balancing, and synchronization algorithms
-
Resource management
-
Security and integrity in clusters
-
Performance evaluation and modelling
-
Support for collective communication and cooperative work
-
Cluster applications (scientific, engineering, and business)
-
Distributed and parallel algorithms for cluster networks
Euro-Par Conference Series
Euro-Par is the annual European conference on parallel
computing. It is dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects
of parallel computing. Euro-Par 2000 is organized as a day
of tutorials, two half-day plenary sessions, and a number of parallel sessions.
Paper Submission
Authors are requested to use the electronic form
on the web site to submit their paper to the topic they judge most appropriate.
Proceedings
All papers selected for this session by peer-review
process will be published in Euro-Par 2000 conference proceedings through
Springer Verlag (LNCS series), Germany.
