"Economic-based Distributed Resource Management and Scheduling for
Grid Computing", submitted by Mr. Rajkumar Buyya

           Grounds for the Recommendation...

I have accepted the invitation to examine the thesis with great expectations.
What I received for examination was overwhelming. It was overwhelming for
two main reasons: first, the size 166 pages of size 10 point text; second,
the scope - there is enough material for two PhD theses.

The area of the candidate research and problems proposed to be solved
are real, important, and worthy of research. The approach and methodology
of the project is well formed. The scope of the thesis, as stated earlier,
is too wide, though manageable. Solving the proposed problems is of
important for parallel processing on grids.

The goal of the project has been reached and results, the majority of
them published already, have been achieved and reported in the thesis.

Note: The final thesis, which has been accepted by the academic board 
of Monash University, includes some amendments and corrections as suggested 
by the examiner.
